Why your changes to a learner’s details aren’t saving

So, you’ve created or updated a learner’s details, and they’re just not saving. This is clearly a total and utter nightmare! But don’t worry, it’s fixable so read on.

When a learner’s details aren’t saving, the number one cause is a duplicate email address caused by the automated import. It might also be a duplicate username (very rare) or an email address that isn’t in the correct format, i.e it doesn’t have an ‘@’ symbol (also very rare).

One challenge you might experience is when you’re trying to edit active learners who share an email address with an inactive learner. So, it’s a good idea when you’re searching for a learner to investigate that you Filter on Both active & inactive people when in Learners … Overview:

This way you can Edit any inactive learners to remove their email address data, and Press submit to save changes:

This is a reason why you previously couldn’t edit the active user, for example, to move them to their correct location, because they shared the same email with another user.
